 Major changes are coming to Magic: The Gathering!
Beginning with the Magic: The Gathering 2010 Core Set, or Magic 2010, all Magic core sets will be annually released and will be named to reflect the upcoming year. Almost half of the 249 cards in the Magic 2010 set will be brand new cards, in addition to the old favorites and the known cards from other sets. 15 mythic rares will also be included in the set: 9 are reprints, of which 5 are the newly Mythic-ed Lorwyn Planeswalkers, and 6 are brand new cards.
There will be Prerelease events and Launch Parties just like any other expansion set. Immediately on release,
Magic 2010 will become legal in the Standard format, bumping 10th Edition into Extended. After that, each core set will be legal in Standard until October of the following year. Magic 2010 will also be used in Limited-format Grand Prix events this year. |

Last May 2, 2009, the Magikeros came out in full force for the Alara Reborn Prerelease Sealed Deck Tournament. Everyone was eager for the introduction of the last expansion set in the Alara Block. Prizes were handed out to the winners of each round. The four players who remained undefeated at the end of the tournament received special edition Alara Reborn T-shirts. Zendikar is the first set in the "Live, Long, Prosper" block. Codenamed "Live", it is set to include 249 cards. Previews start on magicthegathering.com September 7, 2009. Prerelease events will be held September 26-27, 2009.
